Dolores Grant was a Canadian showgirl who performed in the Ziegfeld Follies
She was born Ethel Mae Grant on February 1, 1905 in Novia Scotia, Canada. During her childhood her family also lived in Toronto. At the age of twenty-two she made her Broadway debut in the musical Padlocks Of 1927. She also appeared in the musicals Rosalie, Show Girl, and Simple Simon. Then she was hired to dance in the Ziegfeld Follies. In 1931 producer Earl Carroll offered her a large raise if she would leave the Follies and join his show. Dolores spent the next three years as the highest paid star of Earl Carroll's Vanities. The press called her "an outstanding Nordic beauty." She went to Monaco in 1934 to be part of the Monte Carlo circus. Dolores married Howard Turner Deighton, a British stage producer, in May of 1938.

He produced a lavish stage show in London for her to star in. The Duke Of Windsor became one of her biggest fans! They took the show on the road to South America and played at the Copacabana in Rio De Janeiro. In an interview she said "If I had my whole life to live again I would want it to be just the same". She decided to quit show business shortly after her sons, Grant and Robert, were born. During the 1940s she and her husband Howard started a business making Holiday decorations in Los Gatos. They remained happily married until he passed away in 1967. Dolores died on April 10, 1980 at the age of seventy-five. She was buried at Los Gatos Memorial Park in San Jose, California.
