She was born Marcelle Fromholt on October 6, 1897 in Paris, France. In 1920 she made her film debut in the French film Le'Pave directed by Lucien Lehmen. Francine appeared in more than a dozen silent movies including The House Of Mystery, Lady Harrington, and Springtime Of Love. She married Jean-Pierre Stock, a rower who had won a silver medal in the Olympics, in 1924. Their son was born the following year. Francine landed a featured role in the 1927 French epic Napoleon. The beautiful actress also made movies in Germany and Italy. During the late 1920s she decided to take some time off from acting to be a mother.
Unfortunately her marriage to Jean-Pierre ended in divorce. She returned to the screen in the 1931 film La ronde des heures. Tragically in 1932 her seven year old son died. Francine fell into a deep depression and attempted suicide twice. Her final film was the 1932 comedy L'ane de Buridan. Sadly in March of 1933 she decided to take her own life by swallowing poison. After spending three days in the hospital she died on March 23, 1933. She was only thirty-five years old. Francine was cremated and her ashes were given to her family.
