She was born Julia Share on November 17, 1908 in Fort Scott, Kansas. When she was a child the family moved to Los Angeles, California and her parents divorced. Her mother married Dr. Frank Duncan in 1915 and he adopted Julia. At the age of sixteen she was discovered by Mack Sennett and became one of his bathing beauties. Julia had small roles in the comedy shorts Love And Kisses, From Rags To Britches, and Isn't Love Cuckoo. She graduated from Hollywood high school and briefly attended college. On June 23, 1926 she married Paul Irwin Malone, a stucco manufacturer. Unfortunately he was an alcoholic and became abusive. Julia divorced him in 1929. That same year she married Robert Boone. The couple lived with her parents in Los Angeles but by1938 they were divorced.
