June Bruner was a singer and musician who went on numerous USO shows
She was born June Elizabeth Bruner on July 3, 1919 in Los Angeles, California. Her father, Charles Bruner, worked as a salesman and her mother, Edith Bruner, was a housewife. June learned how to play several instruments including the piano and the accordion. After high school she began career singing in local nightclubs. Her specialties were swing ballads and boogie-woogie. In 1944 she went on a two month USO tour with Carole Landis, Jack Benny, Larry Adler, and Martha Tilton They travelled all over the South Pacific and entertained thousands of soldiers. The following year she joined Bob Hope on his USO tour of Germany. She sang and played the accordion for the soldiers. June married William "Johnny" Cain, a bartender on September 17, 1950. During the Korean War she went on a USO tour with Danny Kaye and Monica Lewis. In February of 1954 she gave birth to a son. She continued to perform in nightclubs across the country. June also recorded a song called "Who's Gonna Be Sweet To You". On December 13, 1990 she died at the age of seventy-one.
